Zorb Ball

  • Describe the function of a Zorb Ball.
Unlike a hard plastic hamster ballzorbs are built as a ball inside of another ball with a layer of air between them. This layer of air between the two flexible plastic balls acts as a shock absorber. To add even more fun, you can add water for an aqua ride, which is also sometimes called hydro zorbing.

  • What has it developed from?
In 1994, three investors created the firm ZORB Limited in New Zealand to create suitable spheres for humans and to commercialize sphereing. Their business model was to develop the activity via a franchise system.
Highest governing body: ZORB Limited
First played: 1994, Stien Vermeiren,
  • Why was it developed - what was the need behind the development?
Is the recreation or sport of rolling downhill inside an orb, typically made of transparent plastic. Zorbing is generally performed on a gentle slope but can also be done on a level surface, permitting more rider control. In the absence of hills, some operators have constructed inflatable, wooden, or metal ramps. Due to the buoyant nature of the orbs, Zorbing can also be carried out on water, provided the orb is inflated properly and sealed once the rider is inside. "Water walking" using such orbs has become popular in theme parks across.

  • Name at least five of the main issues or problems that needed to be resolved, answered, whilst it was being developed? Eg. Making sure the Zorb Ball would follow a set path as it rolled down the hill.

Bluetooth speakers

- Why are they called Bluetooth speakers?
Bluetooth was named after a tenth-century king, Harald Bluetooth, King of Denmark and Norway. (Also known as Harald Bluetooth Gormson or Harald I of Denmark) Bluetooth is an anglicized version of Harald Blaatand, who was known for his unification of previously warring tribes from Denmark (including now Swedish Scania).
- Who invented them?

Tord Wingren, Jaap Haartsen, and Sven Mat tisson are the inventors of what became Bluetooth. And since they were specify call developing it for wireless headsets those would have technically been the first Bluetooth speakers (since a speaker is an integral component to a headset).

- Why did he invent them?

The development of the "short-link" radio technology, later named Bluetooth, was initiated in 1989 by Nils Rydbeck, CTO at Ericsson Mobile in Lund, Sweden. The purpose was to develop wireless headsets, according to two inventions by Johan Ullman, SE 8902098-6, issued 1989-06-12 and SE 9202239, issued 1992-07-24 .

- What can Bluetooth speakers do?

Bluetooth is a wireless transmission technology that's used for device-to-device connections, for example, between your phone, tablet or laptop and Bluetooth equipped speakers or headphones. Bluetooth can also be used to transmit data between two devices. Bluetooth doesn't transmit well through walls or around corners.

- What have you learnt and enjoyed while you have been making     yours?

(it may be some of the processes we have used; soldering wires  drilling holes, making the wooden speaker boxes, etc).

what is a migration

Migration facts and information

Migration is the movement of people from one place to live in another. Emigrants leave their country, while immigrants enter a country. Migration impacts on both the place left behind, and on the place where migrants settle. People have many reasons why they might want to move from one place to another. These reasons may be economic, social, political or environmental. For migration to take place there are usually push factors and pull factors at work. Push factors are the reasons that make someone decide to move. This is their own experience of life in one place which gives them good reasons to leave it. Often push factors are negative things such as unemployment, crop failure, droughts, flooding, war, poor education opportunities or poor services and amenities. Pull factors, on the other hand, are the expectations which attract people to the new place. They are usually positive things such as job opportunities, a better standard of living, better education or better healthcare.
